Days Inn by Wyndham Orangeburg

I thought I’d booked the Days Inn 15 minutes north, but they couldn’t transfer my booking. I drove here with my family and two dogs, and they charged $25 for each dog. The rooms were filthy. We checked for bed bugs and didn’t see any, but the shower curtains had bodily fluids on them, the old carpet and couch weren’t clean, the walls hadn’t been wiped down, the toilet seat was broken, and the comforter had burn holes. I’ve traveled my whole life, and this is the worst place I’ve ever stayed. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The rooms were a little dirty, but it looked like some remodeling was underway, so I’d give the place another try. The staff were very nice and helpful, and breakfast in the morning was good.

We had no issues, and the price was decent. The room was clean and looked recently renovated, and they seemed to keep to Days Inn standards. The 6am to 9am breakfast had a waffle machine, toaster, cereal, and coffee, which was all we needed to get going. No complaints, though the bed was a little too soft for my taste. Someone else might find it really comfortable.

The roaches were the main problem, and we definitely won’t return. We stayed for 48 hours with our two small children and counted 22. After only an hour on the first night, I’d already spotted one on the wall. There were two dead ones, one before the bathroom and one behind its door, and roaches were crawling on the ice bucket, so we couldn’t use it. The bathroom and sink area were the worst. My husband told the staff, and they said they’d handle it. We couldn’t leave drinks or snacks out for the kids, and I checked all our bags before unpacking after seeing one crawl on my daughter’s bookbag. The staff were nice, the location wasn’t terrible, and food was convenient. Some people played super loud music at the gas station late at night. I know that wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but it was annoying.
