Baymont by Wyndham Orlando/International Dr/Universal Blvd

I left after the first night because the stay was so uncomfortable. My flight had been delayed until 2am, and sports and conference events had left few hotel rooms available, so I couldn’t leave right away. The entire hotel smelled of stale cigarettes, and I didn’t feel safe using the elevator. In my room, the linens and towels were stained, the oddly sized pillows were uncomfortable, and the sheets were dirty and neither cozy nor comfortable. The lampshades were dented, the headboard lights didn’t work, and the old, damaged furniture was too large for the room. The mattress was bigger than the bed frame. Breakfast came on small styrofoam plates, with coffee in little styrofoam cups. The online photos make the hotel look nice, but it isn’t. I don’t understand its 4.1-star rating. Absolutely terrible.

Check-in and checkout were easy, and the staff were great. The bed was comfortable, and Starbucks was within walking distance. It’s about a 10-minute drive to Universal Parks and 15-20 minutes to Walt Disney World. The hotel was nice for the price, and I’d stay again. The walls were a bit thin, and there was a strong cleaner smell, though I preferred that to a bad odor. A water bottle filling station in the lobby would be useful.

My family and I got stuck in Orlando for a few extra days because of a canceled flight and needed somewhere near the airport. This place looked nice online, but appearances were deceiving. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this stay was bad enough that I had to. There were three of us, but on the first night we had just one hand towel and barely any toiletries. After we asked for towels and washcloths, we got one towel and two washcloths the first time. We requested more later and received extra blankets, but they were stained and smelled nasty. It felt as if asking staff to do their job was an inconvenience. The shower was also difficult to get into without risking a fall. I’ve never gotten sick after a stay elsewhere, but after our two nights here I came home with a nasty cold that’s lasted longer and hit harder than most I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend the place and won’t stay again.

We only needed one night, and check-in was smooth. The hotel was clean and did the job, but it was very basic. The shower didn’t drain properly, and the walls were peeling. We also asked for extra pillows and couldn’t get any. It served our needs, though it could have been nicer.
