Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort

The free appetizer coupon was a mess. We followed the rule the desk gave us, anything under $14, but the waiter said it only covered three specific items and wouldn’t make an exception. I did appreciate the appetizer offer, but that was frustrating. The bigger problem was the water. Nobody told us before booking that it would be shut off every night from 9pm-6am, so we couldn’t shower after going out. In the morning it was cold, and the desk staff said to let it run for 30-45 minutes. The Disney shuttle was another letdown. It seemed more geared toward Universal, didn’t run early enough for Disney, and didn’t stop at Magic Kingdom, despite the hotel saying it partners with Disney. I won’t stay here again in Orlando. I should’ve gone back to my usual place.

The traffic around here can get really heavy, which is the one drawback to the location. Still, I’ve stayed a few times and each visit has gone well. It’s close to Disney, the pool is large and clean, and most rooms have small balconies. They’re updating the rooms now, and they look like they’ll be even nicer. Staff have always been welcoming, parking feels secure, and I’ll keep coming back when I need a resort hotel in Orlando.

The spa was a nice place to unwind after sightseeing, and there are plenty of nearby restaurants and attractions within easy walking distance. The staff also tracked down a hat I’d left behind and returned it quickly. I was there for my birthday, and the front desk made the occasion feel special with a room upgrade, a small credit to use at the hotel, and help with what I needed. They were gracious from the start and seemed to care about making the stay memorable. It felt like good value, and I’d consider the hotel for another birthday visit or a short city break.

They charge $25 to park, and you’re basically stuck parking on their property. To me, lowering the room rate to attract guests and then adding a fee everyone has to pay is a lousy business move. They should include it in the room price. For $200 a night, I’d stay at one of the nicer hotels nearby that doesn’t charge for parking.
