The second room had no bugs, the towels were unstained, and the AC and microwave worked well. The balcony had a beautiful Atlantic Ocean view, and the pool area looked recently redone. Parking was no problem over Thanksgiving weekend, checkout was easy, and the $100 deposit was back on my card within three days, as promised. I didn't try the coffee maker or stovetop. The bedding still looked old and stained, so we used the mattress cover, sheets, comforter, and pillows we'd brought from home. We had to ask to move from the first room because the old, stained bedding had a few dead bugs inside the sheets and bedspread. Our booking was nonrefundable and we'd paid for four nights, but a kind staff member moved us and upgraded the room. I'd tell the owners to replace all the bedding, put zippered covers on the mattresses to protect against stains and bugs, and hire a professional pest-control service. Those changes could cut complaints and bad reviews and bring people back. I learned to book only refundable rooms and read Google reviews, which I find most accurate. I'd seen mediocre reviews and figured that was to be expected from a lower-priced hotel. The day after my daughter asked whether I'd checked Google reviews, I finally read them and immediately regretted booking.

We had a little kitchen with a two-eye glass-top stove and a few dishes, plus excellent Wi-Fi. The balcony had a solid concrete wall, which worked really well with our pets. There's also a grass courtyard out back for them, and the place is completely pet friendly. The family who own and run it were extremely kind and helpful. I left my phone in the room while we were heading out and called the assistance number two hours before opening. The manager answered even though I'd clearly woken him, and gladly offered to come let me in right away. Yes, the rooms are outdated, but they were clean. If you want somewhere fancy, go to an actual hotel. If you want a quiet, clean, well-run place to sleep to the sound of the ocean without taking out a second mortgage, this is a good fit. Great for families on a budget or anyone wanting an unassuming retreat.

The corner room had a great view, and the updated rooms are nice. There's a deep sink and a cooktop, but no oven. Housekeeping had left things from previous guests, including lottery tickets in the cabinets, food in the fridge, and hair in the tub. Still, when we left four washed dishes drying in the sink, they threatened to keep $50 of our $100 cash deposit. Use their dishes at your own risk, since they may have been washed by guests rather than staff. Aside from that, it was great.

The room was clean and the view was spectacular. I liked the stay so much that I extended it twice and didn't want to leave. Ryan at the office was wonderful, helpful, and great to talk to. I can't remember the front desk woman's name, but she was just as awesome. Thanks for making my stay so good. I'll definitely come back.

We brought our dogs and felt welcome. They're allowed on the beach beside the hotel, and there are dog waste bag dispensers at the hotel and on the beach. The pool was well maintained, parking was free, and there are restaurants within walking distance. Our room had a sea view and was very clean, though a bit dated. You get a lot for the money here: it's right on the beach and welcomes dogs, with a pool too. Sure, the place could use renovation, but people booking a budget hotel and expecting five stars are ridiculous. Pay for five stars and you'll get more.
