Budget Inn Lake Oroville

The maid walked straight into our room without knocking, and I left with bites all over my body. There were cockroaches and bed bugs, which was disgusting. The staff were very unprofessional and ghetto. I’m usually easygoing and understanding, and I’ve had to stay in some pretty bad places, but this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. If you want to wake up covered in bites, go for it. I’d give this place zero stars if I could. DO NOT STAY HERE!! HORRIBLE!!!

We didn’t feel safe here. Right after checking in, there was a fight in the middle of the street. We stayed two nights but wanted to leave as soon as we saw the room. The shower was dirty and so cramped that one person could barely shower comfortably. When we turned on the heater, it died, so we spent the night in a freezing room. It definitely wasn’t worth the price. We won’t come back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The people were very friendly, and the hospitality was better than at most places I’ve visited or stayed overnight. It was also the only place in the whole city with a room available. But the room had a lot of maintenance problems. We kept needing someone to open the door with a master key because the card entry didn’t work. The bathroom flooded from the shower, which I had to plunge and clear, and neither the lights nor the fan worked. None of the AC units seemed maintained, so I had to clean mine before I could use it. This place needs a lot of upgrades and upkeep.

The Super 8 across the street thankfully treated us well, with great attention and service. Here, the rooms were dirty and unkempt, and the website’s “Garden View” turned out to be a patch of dead grass in front. The manager was on her phone the whole time and didn’t give us the attention we needed. When we asked for a refund because the room wasn’t acceptable, she yelled at me, threw my debit card at me, and told us to leave. Very poor customer service, and way overpriced.
