Entella Hotel

The location is great, and I didn’t see pests during my stay. There was a notice saying pest control comes every month, so despite the concerns in older reviews, the issue seems under control. It’s basically a one-star hotel, but otherwise fine: bathrooms and showers are shared, though private for single use, and rooms mostly just have a bed, TV, and mini fridge.

The staff were very friendly, and it’s a cheap place to sleep for a few nights. As others have said, it feels more like a hostel. My room had just one bed and no toilet or shower. The sheets were okay, though they looked used.

I’m very satisfied and would stay here again next time I’m in town. Entella hotel is a great deal for the low price, and it’s much better than some places I’ve paid more for. The hotel seems well kept, the rooms and shared facilities were clean, and the staff are very friendly. It’s convenient for Fisherman's Wharf, public transportation, and lots of places of interest. My full-size room has a real bed, a closet, a dresser, a sink, and a flat-screen TV with Netflix and other channels. The windows look out onto Lombard St, which is cool. They also supplied soap and a big, thick towel. Showers are shared, with separate bathrooms.

I used to give this hotel five stars, but lately I’d give it one. The building is falling into disrepair, and what they call pest control doesn’t seem to work. I believe there are cockroaches, mice, and possibly other pests throughout the hotel. There are 40 rooms on each floor but only two showers, and the few bathrooms are reportedly cleaned only every two days, sometimes less often. With so many people using them, they quickly become disgusting and unsanitary, and toilet paper is often missing. Staff don’t respond to requests to clean them. The health department has been notified and said it would conduct a surprise inspection. Building security is nonexistent. Even trash from the street can blow inside. Some occupants check in at random times and harass or torment other paying residents. They make noise and behave strangely, including lurking in the hallways. When I raised this with management, they said they couldn’t do anything, knew nothing about it, or suddenly said the group had checked out. It sounds bizarre because it is. Police know about it, and several people have apparently filed complaints, but there’s not much they can do. I’d be very wary of booking a nightly room at Entella. Not recommended.
