Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oroville Lake by IHG

We stayed one night on a business trip to Oroville. The rooms were clean and modern, and the breakfast was much better than I expected: omelets, country potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and gravy. Everyone on staff was helpful and nice.

Roxanne’s Sunday breakfast is the reason this is the only place we stay when we visit. It felt like a full family breakfast at home, with biscuits and gravy, eggs, potatoes, bacon, turkey sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, pastries, bagels and bread for toasting, juices, and delicious coffee. The rooms are always clean and the beds so comfortable, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. They really go above and beyond. Roxanne, your Sunday breakfast rocks!

The hotel itself gave us a decent stay for four work nights. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, daily room service was done, and breakfast included hot options. Still, I may look elsewhere next time. People with shopping carts and bicycles were often wandering around outside, some appeared to be using drugs, and my hitch cover was stolen the first night. The laundry room has just one washer and dryer, and the dryer was out of order. I also couldn’t set the thermostat fan to run continuously, so the AC cycling on and off kept me awake. The issues outside aren’t the hotel’s fault.

People experiencing homelessness were all over the property, and a faulty lobby door made it really hard to get inside. The night clerk also gave me the creeps. The staff seem to care and try hard, but the place feels unsafe and needs uniformed security people on site around the clock.
