Quality Inn Ouray

I’ve been coming here for nearly two decades, usually four to six times a year. Bill and Emily were fantastic people and did a great job running the hotel, so it’s a bummer that they recently sold it. In my opinion, the place is going downhill under the new owners, and it feels like they’re cutting corners. Breakfast was never anything special, but they’ve reduced the options, which is obvious if you’ve stayed before. The orange juice machine and ice maker were broken. The TV remote wouldn’t change channels, and the shampoo dispenser in the shower was broken. They left another bottle there, but it was leaking everywhere. The shower rod has very sharp ends, and I cut my knuckle closing the curtain. They also stopped participating in the ice park membership program, and the chocolate chip cookies they used to offer at check-in are gone. The new management needs to get things together. A hotel this old needs regular maintenance, and they need to get used to keeping up with it. Read the other recent reviews too.

I used to love staying here, and the previous owners were wonderful when I visited in earlier years. Since new owners bought the property this past summer, the service hasn’t been the same. Our room had dirty towels and several things that weren’t working or were damaged: the fridge, hot tub, ice machine, and lamp were broken. A light fixture hung sideways, with the curtain rod propping it up.

Chris, the manager, was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and it was clear he cared about the guests and their stay. The Quality Inn in Ouray, CO was comfortable, very well kept, and had beautiful views in every direction. My experience was excellent from start to finish. Don’t believe the fake negative reviews out there. I’d highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Ouray and will definitely return.

I was passing through and found that the other places seemed overpriced, so I booked this room at a reasonable rate. The beds were clean and comfortable, breakfast was pretty good, and I had a great stay.
