Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Owensboro/Waterfront

The building's stair setup made getting around a real ordeal. You can't reach the stairs from the ground floor, so everyone has to queue for just two small elevators. It was excruciating, especially with the stairways covered in signs about the health benefits of climbing them. I would've loved to use them, but the design doesn't let you. Terrible layout. The stay itself had some good points: the hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable and quiet, the showers worked, and both the heated pool and hot tub were in good shape. I even saw someone cleaning the pool area after it closed for the night. I also took off a star because the hotel allows pets. I don't think domestic animals belong in hotels, and I feel the hotel shouldn't cater to people who can't be without their pets.

On both of our visits, we've been happy with the breakfast and the rooms, and especially the staff. Lavonna in the kitchen is wonderful and really goes the extra mile. The bathrooms also have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion already there, so there's no need to unpack your own. We enjoyed the lovely views too.

I was here for a conference and got a nice surprise: both the meeting areas and the guest rooms were wonderful. The Christmas decorations made the hotel feel cozy, and you can walk to several restaurants and a beautiful riverfront.

The lady who takes care of breakfast has the best smile, so be sure to say hello. Precious and the other women at the front desk were lovely too. The whole staff was the best, and the hotel itself felt magnificent and luxurious. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
