Spocky 8.
The mini omelettes at breakfast are amazing! The hotel has had a lot of renovation work going on during the few days I’ve been here, but the staff still deliver excellent service. The construction hasn’t disturbed my sleep or otherwise interrupted my stay. It’s still a little rough around the edges, which is to be expected, and I’d absolutely come back if I get the chance.

The staff were kind, friendly, and professional, and everything else was a 10 out of 10. The one letdown was the free breakfast. Since Sleep Inn is now The Spark by Hilton, I expected the breakfast to be better than what they served this morning. Hilton, you’ve got to do better!

Our first time at a Sleep Inn was in Oxford, Alabama, where renovations were underway but caused very little inconvenience. The beds were surprisingly good, even compared with pricier chains. Most of all, Thomas and the rest of the staff made the stay memorable. He sets a high standard, and the whole team matched his care and hospitality. Everyone went out of their way to help with reasonable requests, and even a few that were close to unreasonable because of my condition. The night desk clerk, kitchen cook, and housekeeping staff were all superb. We wanted a room at a good price with great service, and got both. The stay reminded me there are still some really good people in the world. My wonderful wife had to attend mandatory training in the Oxford/Anniston area for a week, and I’d planned to stay home and have donuts and cake for breakfast. I went along because I love and support everything she does, and she even let me have a donut on the ride home.

This is our second visit to this Sleep Inn, and it’s the first chain we’d tried after staying at all sorts of other hotels. The beds are the best we’ve found, even compared with places costing over $200 a night. The medium soft mattress meant we didn’t wake up hurting like we do on rock hard hotel beds. Renovations were happening, but we weren’t inconvenienced at all. Ric Roxley, the GM, stays on top of things, and Thomas at the front desk is a jewel. He’s the reason we came back, always going above and beyond. Pinky on nights, Maria in the kitchen, and the housekeeping crew are gems too. Ric has picked a caring team. Breakfast has hot foods, bagels, breads, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, waffles, and more. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance or a short drive. Though the hotel is just off a main road, we didn’t hear traffic in our room. It’s a good room for the price, with excellent service, and it’s dog friendly.

The rooms were really clean, the beds extra comfy, and the staff very hospitable. The nightly rate is quite reasonable next to the other options nearby. I was sorry we visited in the cold season because I would’ve loved to try the inviting-looking pool. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m in the area.
