The staff were courteous, but that couldn't make up for the state of the room. I nearly slept in my car. Instead, I bought disinfectant, sprayed everything I expected to touch, and slept fully dressed to avoid the bedding and as much of the room as possible. We didn't use the toiletries, shower, or tub. The toiletries had clearly been opened and partly used, and there was hair in the tub, which also looked unclean. The whole place seemed badly run down, with holes and poor patch jobs in the walls and ceilings, inside and out. Paint and wallpaper were peeling, and there was no sign of repairs. Surfaces were filthy, with greasy smears or thick dust. The linens were stained: blood on pillowcases, yellow and brown marks on sheets and towels, and unknown stains on the curtains and comforter. The carpets didn't look vacuumed. Several fixtures were broken, and some outlets didn't work. The appliances were dirty, smelly, and greasy too. There was something smeared on the microwave's glass turntable and splattered inside, mold in the coffee maker's water reservoir, slimy marks on the fridge, and cigarette ashes on the air unit. It smelled awful when switched on. Even the phone was gross.

We've gone to the annual event in Oxford for the past 7-8 years, and we've always stayed at The University Inn because it's perfectly located for it. The rooms aren't amazing, but they're clean enough and very cost efficient.

We came back to find someone had entered our room despite the Do not disturb sign and moved our things. The employee had also been smoking weed in there. The room absolutely reeked, and I felt sick being in it. We're airing it out now.

There were 2 roaches on my pillow when I checked in, and the place was disgusting and dirty. I showed the owner a picture of them in the bed, but he refused to refund me and was rude and unapologetic. There was also a guy smoking weed in the parking lot. I would never stay here again.

I booked through Priceline, but they told me internet reservations don't come through. The advertised continental breakfast wasn't there either. Even the ice bucket still says Hampton Inn, and Days Inn is written on the ironing board in permanent marker. They're too cheap to use rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to take it off. I have pictures, though I can't see anywhere to upload them. Something bit me while I was lying in bed. I ended up with a raised, red, itchy bump on the back of my leg, below my knee. I'm never staying here again!
