Palace Inn Oxnard

We were looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend while work was being done at our place. This motel was nearby, so we stopped in to ask about a room, then decided to go elsewhere. While we stood in the parking lot for a minute figuring out where to go next, a man came out and rudely asked, “Are you staying or not?” We said no and apologized. He shouted that it wasn’t a meeting area and that we had to leave right then or he’d call the police. We were already about to go. The treatment was awful, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. In my view, steer clear. People asking for basic things like clean sheets are met with reports of rude management. I’ve also heard complaints about cigarette and urine smells, blood on sheets, and dirty bedding.

The manager refused to give me clean sheets, even though I’d paid for the room and it wasn’t cheap. When I pulled back the quilt to cover myself, I found a large bloodstain on the white sheet covering the mattress. I called the person in charge, who contacted the manager. She said I’d have to sleep on it and that it was my problem. Then she yelled at me and asked why I had uncovered the bed. I was very disappointed and took photos to show I wasn’t making it up. The room wasn’t clean, though cleanliness matters less to me than having clean sheets and a clean bathroom. I’d booked thinking the place would be okay, but that was a big mistake. I won’t recommend it, even if I had nowhere else to stay. The manager was an Indian woman, but I’m also from a minority group, and her origin isn’t the issue.

My mom didn’t feel safe after staff yelled at her, so I drove over and helped her check out. Earlier, she’d shown the woman who came to her door the bed and mold on the walls. The woman had banged on my mom’s door and confronted her aggressively, and the only thing she offered was Febreze. Before that, my mom called me about ten minutes after arriving to say the bed was disgustingly dirty and smelled bad. She’d checked in around 4, then we left at about 4:30, and she didn’t return until close to 11. I called the front desk, but the man was extremely rude and insisted the room couldn’t be dirty because it was “one of their jacuzzi rooms.” They wouldn’t do anything or keep talking to me. I wish I could post the call videos. I booked the room without really checking the place first. I won’t make that mistake again. It was a terrible experience.

Everyone was so kind and helpful during our eight-day stay. My family had an emergency and we had to fly to Oxnard. After long days at the hospital, we’d come back to a clean room and a smile. The stay gave our family some peace in the middle of a storm, and I absolutely recommend this place.
