Pacifica Beach Hotel

The hotel is near the ocean, with lovely views and a peaceful feel. The staff were reasonably helpful. My main disappointment was the room's cleanliness and some of the amenities, which could have been better. It's decent for a short stay, and a few improvements would make the experience better.

I've stayed at several hotels and AirBnBs along the Pacifica coast, and this was the worst experience I've had. Parking was a mess: they tell you to park wherever you can, even where there's a no-parking sign, as long as you don't block anyone. I used a designated spot, but woke up blocked in. It took 30 minutes for them to find the other car's owner. I missed an important appointment and now have to fly out again for the rescheduled one. For both days, morning and evening, the shower water was barely lukewarm. The Wi-Fi was awful, never above 8Mbps, and Verizon had no service there, so I had to find somewhere else with usable guest Wi-Fi for online meetings. It was too noisy there. The hallway smelled like marijuana, and my room was dim, with just one can light and one bedside lamp. The ceilings are thin, so on the bottom floor you hear every step above. At checkout, the receptionist was cold and didn't ask how my stay went. Maybe they hear so many complaints that they ignore them. The place looks nice outside, but I'd choose another local hotel or an AirBnB.

The only nice part was the ocean view. The room was completely dated, with a hot tub door that wouldn't close, an extremely loud fan above the tub, bad lighting, and holes in the wall that were patched poorly. Half the "security blinds" were missing, and the bathroom counter and window were battered and rusty. Parking was awful unless you drive a Yugo. I won't be back!

We paid nearly $500 for two nights, and this Valentine’s getaway was a complete disaster. We’ve stayed here many times and had a great experience before, so this was especially disappointing. The room we booked wasn’t available because of construction. The first room smelled like cigars, and there was a plastic bag hanging from the smoke detector. On Valentine’s Day, we were told to remove our things so the room could be cleaned, then left without a room until another was ready. After that, our keys stopped working. We kept checking back, but it felt like nobody cared. We had paid for two nights and were pushed out, with no room and no compensation for the inconvenience. When the new room was finally ready, nobody apologized. We asked several times to speak with a manager and got no response. Our key opened every room, and after staff only told us “2nd floor,” we accidentally tried the wrong one. The room had no towels or coffee maker, and the bathroom was horrible. We’re usually patient and understanding, but this stay really tested us. They can do better with customer service. We won’t recommend this place to friends, family, or coworkers.
