Best Western Paducah Inn

Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty to choose from, everything stocked, and a clean dining area that was easy to use. The location right off the highway also suited my trip well. After a long day on the road, I slept soundly in a comfortable, clean, quiet room. Staff were friendly and quick to help whenever I needed anything, and made me feel welcome.

For a quick stop on a cross-country drive, the highway access was handy, and breakfast was decent. The late-night front desk attendant who checked us in was especially welcoming and friendly, easily the best part of our stay. Our room had a strong smoke smell, which was difficult with my allergy, and it felt worn around the edges. For what we paid, we realized the nearby luxury boutique hotel would have cost only a little more. We appreciated the staff, though.

I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it unless you have no other choice. We arrived around 2 a.m. after nearly eight hours of driving, so we stayed, but the room was dirty. Two pillows on one bed had makeup and crusty material on them, and I’m certain they hadn’t been changed. We removed the pillows from all the beds, put our own blanket over the bedding, and slept on that. In the morning there was hair all over the bathtub and shower walls, plus dried old shampoo or conditioner, so I couldn't bring myself to shower. The bedding also smelled as if an animal had been in the room. I told the front desk woman when we checked out. She seemed uninterested, wasn't helpful, and only said she'd made a note.

Meda at the front desk was warm and welcoming, and the rooms were quiet with convenient access for travelers. But there was a foul smell in the first-floor hallway and in our room. We asked Meda to move us, and she did. The new room smelled the same, so she lent us a can of Febreeze, which we used three times before we could sleep. We also found two roaches. I would have mentioned them at checkout, but nobody was at the desk when I returned the keys. We were exhausted from a full day of driving, otherwise we'd have gone elsewhere. Breakfast had a good selection, though the machine's apple and orange juices tasted strange.
