RiverWalk Inn

I liked the framed prints in the hallway, all showing the beautiful scenery around Pagosa Springs. The building was nicely decorated and well cared for, and my basic motel room was very clean. Breakfast was simple and included, served in a cute cafe-like space.

We hoped to stay two nights, but after the first night we went somewhere else. I didn't sleep at all, and I would have asked for a refund if I could. The mattress squeaked constantly, the sheets were paper-thin and rough, and the fitted sheet kept slipping off, so I was repeatedly getting up to fix it. There wasn't even a blanket. Sitting on the bed with coffee, you'd also hit your head on the headboard lip. The woman who checked us in was pleasant and helpful, but the bed in room 216 was a miserable experience. Management should sit on both sides and listen to that mattress squeak.

The location is fantastic, with food and things to do within walking distance. The rooms are super clean, the bathrooms are great, and there are tons of TV channels. The beds were the most friendly to my bad back of any I've slept in, and the rooms were nicer than some fancy, upscale hotels I've tried. Even the front desk helper was sweet, a bulldog named Maya. I'll definitely come back next time.

It's an aging motel, but they seem to be doing the best they can. For one night it meets your needs, though I wouldn't want to stay for days while exploring the area. Still, far better than Quality Inn.
