The only thing I was unsure about was the noise outside at times. They provided free earplugs, which came in handy, and there were occasionally some questionable people outside, though they caused no trouble. The Pahoa Village Hostel was very clean, with hot running water and free coffee and tea. The instructions were clear, and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and understanding. I was very pleased with my stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in Pahoa.

Being right in the center of town was great. The space was lovely, the rate was fair, and Rebecca, who runs it, was friendly and helpful. I’d definitely come back.

A clean, cute little hostel in a quiet area. I liked the cozy feel, the outdoor showers were nice, and there were lovely cats around.

The rooms are private, with just the kitchen and bathroom shared. There are only three rooms, so the place felt relaxed, quiet, and clean, and had everything we needed. I wouldn’t call it noisy. There are karaoke and live music nights, which I thought were sweet. There’s a homeless population almost everywhere, and I didn’t feel unsafe at all with my five-year-old son. My son and I have traveled all over the world, and check-ins can be exhausting. Self check-in here was such a breath of fresh air, and the keyless number-code entry was a nice touch. Bring creamer or sweetener if you like those in your coffee, though coffee is free. Aloha!

The location is fantastic, right in a quaint but really fun one-street town with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, social bars, and a public pool. It’s a lively place at night. And then there’s Bob the house cat. Love him. I’ll be back this spring and hope to catnap Bob Cat. Pahoa Village Hostel and the host were both impeccable. You do share a bathroom since it’s a hostel, but the layout still gave us privacy. The rooms were clean, and the sheets, towels, pillows, and mattresses seemed like new.
