Eagle Hotel

The room got unbearably hot overnight, and by 3 a.m. I couldn't take it anymore and opened the windows. That's when I noticed the AC vent hose wasn't secured in the window, which was still closed, so it had been blowing hot air into the room. We've never used an AC setup like that, so I don't know if we were expected to secure it ourselves. It made for a really rough night's sleep. The bed was firm in a way I liked, and the view from the shared balcony we hadn't expected was nice. There was also a big TV. Before arriving, I called to ask about checking in early and was told it was fine. But there was no one at the front desk, just a phone and a sign telling guests to call a representative. After 15 minutes on hold, the woman told me I couldn't check in early after all, with a vague explanation. The bathroom was also cramped and annoying to get into, because the door opens inward.

The mountain view from our room was a real bonus. We woke up to a crisp spring morning and enjoyed the scenery over coffee. The exterior might put you off at first, but the rooms at Eagle Hotel are spacious and come with a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. I didn't expect rooms this nice in Palmer. Highly recommend.

The room was very nice, clean, and roomy, and I'd stay again. When someone came by, they were very friendly. At checkout, though, nobody was at the front desk, so I had to call, and no one showed up.

We never got a check-in text or any instructions, and three other guests in the lobby were just as confused. The self-service phone connected us to what seemed to be an overseas, definitely off-site service. They didn't seem to know how to help and sent us to an on-site manager who appeared to live in the building. The manager was helpful, but not very professional. This is a self-service hotel, and the way it was advertised didn't match what we found. The system also doesn't seem well established. The rooms were clean and smelled like they'd been recently remodeled, but the hall carpets were home-style and stained. There was a smell of marijuana and cigarettes in the units, making it feel as if some people lived there permanently, perhaps between housing. The cost feels much higher than the experience warrants. It should be advertised as the self-service place it is.
