Garth Woodside Mansion B&B

Kassidy was great, quick to respond when we needed anything and even brought breakfast to our room to go. The bed was really comfortable, and Garth Woodside Mansion was clean. It’s an easy place to find, a couple of miles outside Hannibal, with a peaceful creek and nature setting. We’d definitely recommend it.

The house is beautiful, and I enjoyed learning about its history. The owner’s family were considerate and welcoming, especially Kassidy and her father, who were wonderful hosts. Breakfast was delicious, and they served something different each day of our stay. I loved being at Garth Mansion and hope to visit again. 🤗

My room, Avie's Room, was beautiful, and I slept well every night. The breakfasts were so filling and delicious that I never needed lunch. I was on a special diet, and they made the accommodations I needed without making me feel shortchanged at all. Garth Woodside Mansion should really put more emphasis on breakfast, maybe call it “Bed and BREAKFAST.” I wish I’d taken photos of the food.

I’m still waiting for my refund from Garth Mansion. They deducted the $35 processing fee and some change, then apparently kept the remaining $.85 and rounded the refund down. I don’t expect an apology from Booking.com, since their staff were polite, attentive, and truly sorry I was having trouble. The Garth Mansion employees were another matter: they took no responsibility, blamed Booking.com and “their system,” and spoke condescendingly, as if I were just a silly nurse who couldn’t understand a difficult third-party booking. Booking.com has now said they never heard back from Garth Mansion after contacting them, despite the employee telling me they had to contact Booking.com to start the refund. I guess they found a way. I’d booked an anniversary trip several months in advance and canceled six weeks before the stay. I made the reservation through Booking.com, but the property handled the deposit. The woman I spoke to there confirmed she could see the charge on my account. Even so, the property told me to get the money back through Booking.com, which never held it. They were quick to take the payment, but now I have to spend time dealing with my bank and Booking.com to recover it. It’s also hard to reach the property. This whole mess makes me glad I didn’t stay there. Be careful booking through a third party.
