Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Panama City

We got in at 2:30 am after a late football game, and the young man at the desk was still very nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable, and I liked having no carpet. The outlets in the desk and side tables wouldn’t charge our phones, but I found one in the wall. Breakfast had bananas, yogurt, bagels, mini waffles, coffee, tea, and juice. Thanks!

The hallways smelled strongly of marijuana, and the room had mold in the bathroom, stained towels, dried caulking that was coming apart, and cheap flooring that was bubbling up. Absolutely gross. Wyndham should take its name off this property.

We didn’t stay at all. The room smelled strongly of chemicals, and when we looked around we saw stains on the comforters, sheets, and walls, plus black mold on the ceiling. The sink and shower head were detached from the bathroom walls. We only took our suitcases in, then left without sitting on the bed. The man at the desk took our keys and said he understood when we told him the room felt unsafe. We booked through Booking.com and contacted them about a refund. They said they would reach out to the property, so I called twice to check that the hotel had received what it needed. The woman I spoke with was very rude. She eventually said they would not refund us because, according to them, the shower was wet and we had used it. I asked them to check the cameras because we hadn’t been there long enough to shower. They claimed we’d been in the room for 30 minutes, which also wasn’t true. When I said that, she interrupted, yelled at me, hung up, and wouldn’t answer when I called back. This was unsanitary, unsafe, and extremely unprofessional.

We needed a single night on the way back from Disney World. The location was great and the prices were good, but mold in the building made my whole family sick, all eight of us. There was feces on our sheets, and the floor was black. When my son accidentally dropped his water cup, my husband used a towel to clean it up. I lifted a loose floor panel, and there was more mold underneath. The flooring actually lifted and moved. I tried to report the problem, but nothing was done. They wouldn’t refund us or move us to another room. People kept coming by with complaints about the same situation. I’m not exaggerating, probably eight or nine people. They may show you a nice room, but that doesn’t reflect what we saw. We travel all the time, and this was by far the worst experience.
