Kimpton Miralina Resort and Villas by IHG

The views, location, setup, service, and staff were all really nice. The resort was clean, luxurious, and accommodating, with a wide range of amenities and complimentary items, even things you might have forgotten to pack. It was also handy to check out by texting the staff or message them when you needed something. A beautiful stay.

My three-year-old daughter found what appeared to be heroin in a small baggie on the bathroom floor behind the toilet. We contacted local police, and officers identified the substance on site. It was one of the most frightening travel experiences we’ve had. The front desk manager responded defensively and berated me instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, saying, “I don’t know what I’m looking at, I don’t do drugs.” Another room in our reservation had food left by previous guests, so it was clear the rooms weren’t being properly cleaned between stays. The hotel hasn’t refunded us, followed up properly, or returned our calls. This raises serious concerns for me about cleanliness, inspections, housekeeping, and guest safety. A child could have been badly hurt if she had swallowed what she found. Nice-looking pools and amenities online don’t make that risk acceptable for a family hotel or vacation destination. We’re extremely disappointed and can’t recommend this place to families with children. If you need a safe, clean, family-friendly hotel, I strongly suggest staying elsewhere.

I was upgraded to a casita at check-in and was very comfortable there. The property is well kept, parking is free, and there’s something for everyone. The fitness center is great, as are the six pools, with options for a quieter mood or a livelier one. I’d seen comments about slow pool service, but that wasn’t my experience. Service across the property impressed me, and whoever runs the place is doing a fantastic job. As an IHG owner with Diamond Elite and Ambassador status I actually earned, I loved this stay. It’s a relaxing getaway in a great location, and you get more than you pay for. Highly recommend.

We stayed from late December into January, knowing before booking that renovations were still underway. Our updated room was nice and new, though the shower could have been better. I expected the new bed not to be soft yet, but it was. I think five of the six pools and hot tubs were open during our visit. The pools were lovely, but I wished they were a little warmer in winter; the hot tubs were great. The gym was really nice, and I believe there are at least two, though we only saw one. The finished lobby looks great, and the staff were excellent. The location worked well for us, near a main street but quiet once inside the hotel. For the price, I’d stay again, and would like to return when the renovations are done so I can enjoy the whole place.
