If working out is important to your day, the 24-hour spa on the 4th floor has the best-equipped hotel gym I’ve ever visited. Everything was working: three kinds of bikes, treadmills, free weights, and eight LifeStyle workout machines. There are towels, wipes, and water, plus a small locker room and a digital scale.

We stayed a week, and having a kitchen, washer, and dryer made things easy. Breakfast wasn’t provided, but we could cook for ourselves. There’s a 24-hour Walgreens right next door, handy for breakfast supplies and anything else we needed. The location is great for walking to shows and many well-known restaurants. The air conditioner and ventilation fan were pretty loud. Filling the bathtub was noisy too, because the water came from the ceiling. The most frustrating part was parking: validation was available, but nobody told us at check-in. We paid for parking ourselves for two days and didn’t get compensated by the hotel.

The location was great, within walking distance of both ends of the Strip, and the valets were great too. The hotel is easy to navigate, with no loud, smoky casino to cross on the way to your room. We stayed seven nights, and our room was large, bright, and had a great Strip view. Every employee was friendly and helpful, and housekeeping kept the room immaculate each day. I’d stay here again.

We’ve been here a week, and the elevators and escalators have made this a miserable stay. The escalators are constantly out. They might work for two hours, then break for two days. Meanwhile, everyone queues for one tiny elevator that struggles to move people up and down. Rideshares and delivery orders also mean going all the way down to the basement valet. The elevator system depends on other guests knowing how to use it. The room was generally dirty when we arrived: floors and counters were dirty, mirrors weren’t polished, and there was a musty smell, possibly cigarette smoke. The A/C struggled to reach the thermostat setting. My shower wouldn’t drain. I asked for it to be snaked while I was out, but either it wasn’t done or it didn’t work, and I ended every shower with five inches of standing water. After a particularly labor-intensive day at work, I came back to no hot water. It was scheduled maintenance and should have been fixed by 7pm, but we couldn’t get any hot water until 10:30-11pm. The washer/dryer combo in our room, which I’d been looking forward to on a longer stay, stinks of mold and mildew. I also asked housekeeping to clean my floor because there were several pieces of debris left by a previous guest. They came, but didn’t do that. This is the only Hilton property we’ve stayed at that wouldn’t let us change the primary name on a reservation, even with that person physically there and giving permission. So nobody on my work team can claim Hilton Honors points, despite using our own Hilton numbers and credit cards. They won’t change the name, and that leaves us screwed. I could go on, but this should be enough of a warning.

I didn’t expect the one-bedroom suites at the Elara Hilton Grand to be so spacious. Two couples can sleep comfortably in one. Miracle Mall is right next door, with lots to see and do, so you’ve got to check it out!
