We were there over Valentine’s Day weekend for the Babyface concert, which was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick and easy for a holiday weekend. The room was clean, but needed some repairs: the hallway light didn’t work, the bodywash and shampoo holders had come off the wall and were sitting on a shower ledge, and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. We had to call maintenance for a plunger. Food options were decent, though there wasn’t much to choose from outside the hotel since it’s not on the main Strip. A decent stay overall.

My room wasn’t available when I arrived, even though I had a reservation, and I waited 90 minutes. The new tower rooms are beautiful, though. The casino was clean and the resort has plenty of amenities to choose from. Staff seemed confused and disorganized. On a work trip, getting time to rest matters more to me than a room upgrade. Palms can do better.

The renovated Palms is gorgeous, and its art collection alone is worth seeing, with Damien Hirst pieces all over. Rooms are modern and stylish, the pool is great and less crowded than pools on the Strip, and being off-Strip makes the place less chaotic. An Uber to the Strip costs around $8. There are great restaurants and good nightlife at Ghostbar. Seriously underrated.

We ended up paying a higher same-day rate at another hotel after our Palms reservation was canceled two hours before check-in. We’d booked through Booking.com a week earlier for Saturday, May 30th, uploaded my credit card, and received confirmation. At 1:42 PM that Saturday, Booking.com said I needed to update the card or the booking might be canceled. I immediately updated the same card, which had been working fine, and got confirmation that it was updated successfully. A few minutes later, the booking was canceled. We went to the hotel desk, where they said Booking.com had canceled it. Booking.com said it was due to “maintenance,” whatever that means. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with support, which turned out to be a third-party concierge service rather than Booking.com customer support. They couldn’t find us another room. Nobody involved was very apologetic. On top of all that, the Palms would have charged a $135 cleaning fee at check-in, mentioned in the fine print. This was a terrible experience, and I’m hesitant to use Booking.com again. Has anyone else had this happen? Who cancels someone’s hotel two hours before check-in?

I visited Palms a couple of weeks ago. It’s a clean, very nice casino with low table limits. I played craps with Lacy, Janis, and Ace. They made the table laugh and cheer, showed me how the game worked since I’d never played before, and made me feel welcome. I had so much fun and will definitely come back to play with them.
