Courtyard by Marriott Annapolis

The hotel was very clean and tidy, with a quiet atmosphere and a large, comfortable room. The bathroom facilities and amenities were good, and the climate control worked well. Reception were friendly and professional, and the large TV was a nice touch. It was all at a very reasonable price. Thanks, Kim and everyone at Courtyard Annapolis. I had a wonderful stay.

Bed bugs or worse, beware. After two nights of a longer planned stay, I woke up on the second morning with bites and welts like the ones in the pictures. We cancelled the rest of our reservation and left right away. The hotel showed no apology and refused to take responsibility. Stay at your own risk.

My family and I were coming back from Memorial Day weekend and pulled in to ask whether any rooms were available. A woman came outside and rudely told a roughly 20-year-old person to leave, even though her dog was just sniffing the grass and wasn’t doing anything wrong. It looked like they were waiting for someone to check out or to find out if rooms were available and whether dogs were allowed. There’s nothing on the property saying dogs aren’t welcome. We decided to stay somewhere else. The staff need training not to make assumptions.

I won’t stay at this location again. They charged a $10 incidental fee for parking in a nearly empty lot. On my first visit they’d waived it without me asking, presumably because they know it’s unreasonable, so I asked if they could do that again. They refused. I’d booked here because I needed adequate parking, which makes the fee especially ironic. I said the charge seemed unreasonable with the lot empty and that I wouldn’t return. They replied that lots of people say that and the lot would be full later in the year, which wasn’t relevant to me on a late January night. When I suggested the company should let staff waive it when the lot is empty, the answer was basically, “That’s our policy, we just work here.” That unsympathetic response and policy cost them $1,000 in bookings from me over the next two months. If lots of guests complain about the same thing, they might want to act on it to fill the hotel. Enjoy the ten bucks.
