Melody Ranch Motel

The owners were so kind and gracious that they offered us coffee and pastries as we checked out in the morning. My son and I were driving from LA to Northern California for a school program and needed a midway overnight stop. The front office closes at 9 p.m., but they arranged for us to check ourselves in at 11. The price was very reasonable, and the room was immaculate, from the crisp linens and well-kept white grout to the sparkling bathroom surfaces. WiFi was reliable, and we had a microwave and mini-fridge. The place has vintage roadside motel charm, and you can tell this family-run motel takes pride in its facilities and service. Don't hesitate to book here!

We come back here pretty much every time we're in Paso. The rooms are clean, though my back would be happier with a more comfortable bed. I'm still glad to support this great place and its wonderful brother-and-sister owners. They could sell out to commercial gentrification, make a few upgrades, and charge $400 a night like so many once-quaint Paso hotels and motels have done. They haven't, and I'm more than thankful for that.

This is our go-to whenever we're in Paso Robles. The rooms are comfortable, the location is convenient, and the price is reasonable. We've stayed a couple of times and it's just perfect.

The bed was the worst part. The mattress is so saggy that you can feel the divan when you sit down, and lying down leaves your head lower than your feet. If the beds were comfortable, I could overlook the more old than retro style. For $206 a night, it felt very expensive for what you get. The air conditioner worked, but it was incredibly noisy, and I could hear the next room's AC whenever it kicked in. There was no safe, and the traditional twist-pin door lock didn't feel secure enough. On the plus side, the woman who checked us in was very friendly and let us arrive early. It felt quite safe overall, and the cleanliness was good considering the place has "Bates Motel" energy.
