The TV was the only thing in the room I could give a star to. I was in town for a funeral, and the nearby hotels were either booked or around $350 a night, so stopping here seemed like the only option. Big mistake. I couldn't eat the burger I'd brought because the microwave barely worked, sat on a crooked mini fridge, and had a dead roach inside. Roaches were all over the room. I wound up eating chips and soda in my car. The bathroom was awful too, with dried urine around the floor and toilet and poo on the seat. The shower water was cold, though it smelled like hot sewage, so I skipped it. The walls had stains and grime I didn't want to guess about. The sheets had spots, and the comforter had cigarette holes. I slept in my hoodie with the strings pulled tight, sweatpants, and socks over my joggers. The pillows were so shapeless I had to cover them with T-shirts. I barely slept: I saw a roach on the bed when I got up to squat, and when I turned on the light, a mouse ran under the sink. I was uncomfortable and on edge the whole time. They charged $125 even though the outside sign said $109, plus a $10 key deposit. I paid it, but this place was dirtier than a dump and felt like a total ripoff. I couldn't leave fast enough. Avoid it. You might as well sleep in your car, because I got no sleep here.

Meka at the front desk was so friendly and knowledgeable, a real asset to wherever she works. I also got to meet Guy, the Shore Motor Inn owner. He's friendly and understanding, and actually gets his hands dirty cleaning and fixing the plumbing himself. I'd give both of them 10 stars if I could.

For $129 on a weekday, I expected more than a filthy room and all this nonsense. Our socks, including my son's and my husband's, came out black, and we had to throw them away. The cleaning staff wouldn't lend us their broom, saying they needed it to do the job themselves. I did the sweeping because I wasn't comfortable leaving them alone in our room with our things. Maybe they could invest in a Swiffer. We were quiet, considerate paying customers, but I felt like my dad was there telling me what to do. The owner knocked to accuse me of smoking after saying he'd smelled it, though I don't smoke in the room. The girl at the window had said it was a smoking room, and there were ashtrays inside. The owner also told me to watch my kid around the blinds because they're cheap. If he knows they're flimsy, he should replace them instead of telling a paying guest. They don't block the light from outside either. I'm guessing it's family run, since everyone talks and parks in front of your room. There were cops there too, for reasons I don't know. And one of the women who works there, I guess, brings her puppy and curses at it, which really bothered me. Just go somewhere else. For that price, you can stay somewhere decent.

The room smelled bad and felt cramped. The king bed was lumpy, with a hard mattress that dipped in the middle. There was no soap or shampoo, the door didn't feel secure, and the toilet paper holder was missing its roll pin. Then Scottie, the renter, had the nerve to ask us to stay another night. At $95, keep your hard-earned money. This place deserves a negative rating, and health and safety should inspect it.

Stay away from Shore Motor Inn. I left my necklace behind, and the maids were rude and disrespectful when I asked about it. They said nothing had been left in my room. Then a cleaning lady, a Spanish woman, said guests leave rooms dirty and that cleaning up after people isn't her job. Isn't that what a maid does? The owner was a complete jerk too. They have no respect and don't care about customer service. Sayville Motor Lodge is much better in every way if you're looking for somewhere nice.
