Knights Inn Payson

The room itself was comfortable, nicely decorated, and well furnished, with great TV, good towels and sheets, and lots of pillows, which I like. It was quiet and easy to reach, and Kelly, the front desk manager, was very nice and helpful. I'm handicapped and needed a ground-floor room. I stayed five nights and would go back. There's no daily maid service, but you can request it when needed. The floor needed a thorough cleaning, especially the corners and armchair, where dust and dirt build up. It wasn't filthy, but it did feel overlooked. Outside, the grounds are basically nonexistent, and junk is stored under the outside stairs. Shabby outdoors, nice room.

The room was great, with clean bedding, plenty of pillows, and a soft king-size bed. But the walls are thin. Some kids screamed at the top of their lungs all night, and their parents yelled back at them to go to bed. It sounded as if the adults weren't in the same room, coming in to shout and then slamming the door. I couldn't sleep well.

The front desk lady and service were perfectly fine for a $60-a-night room, but at $120 it felt overpriced. I also found a used cleaning rag sitting on the microwave, which was ironic given all the comments about cleanliness. The TV program guide was in Spanish, and I needed a code to switch it to our language. This wasn't my first choice in Payson, and apparently it wasn't anyone else's either. I'm mostly sharing the details, not making a big complaint. Even so, I'd pick it over Motel 6.

Kelly at the front desk was amazing. I'd mistakenly booked a room that didn't allow dogs, but she helped me switch to one that did. The room was really cute, and the two beds worked perfectly for all of us. We liked the location near local diners, especially Pinon Cafe, which is a must for a great breakfast. Water Wheel Falls is just a 25-minute drive away. We'd love to come back for another little getaway from the Phoenix heat with my boyfriend and my furbabies.
