Quality Inn Payson

The rooms were great, but I wish the TVs had streaming. My girlfriend has to avoid gluten, and the breakfast staff couldn't tell us which foods were gluten-free. Since eating the wrong thing could make her extremely sick, she couldn't risk eating any of it. We ended up going out for breakfast. Please make sure staff know what's being served or put up signs.

The beds were comfortable, and the coffee was decent, but the rest of the stay was awful. At 4 AM, the fire alarm started beeping because its batteries hadn't been changed in time, so I had to move rooms. Management refused to comp that night. After my third night, they also failed to put me on the room-cleaning rotation, which is supposed to happen automatically. The old back sliding doors barely open, there was poop all over the place, and the air vents were so dirty that using the air meant breathing in a lot of allergens. Breakfast was poor; the eggs were a liquid imitation, not actual eggs. The corporate website wouldn't let me leave feedback, so I'm posting this negative review here instead. I wouldn't stay again if I could avoid it or recommend it to anyone. I like the Clarion, but pretty much all the Comfort Inns are terrible. I only stay at them because I have a pet and limited options. Prices and taxes here are extremely high. I'd rather pay that much at a boutique hotel and support a local business where management cares about the property's condition. The one in Mesa is even worse than this one.

Michelle and Lexi at the front desk were helpful and friendly, but the hotel itself was terrible. The first room had a toilet that wasn't even attached to the floor, and the phone had no cord. They moved me to another room that smelled horrible. She tried spraying the carpet, but it didn't help. The microwave and fridge didn't work and were plugged into daisy-chained power strips. Fire hazard 101! With her help, we got them working without the daisy chain, but the microwave took 12 minutes to heat a frozen meal and the fridge froze my food. The doorways to the rented rooms couldn't even get a sweep or a blow to clear the leaves. The food was only made for people without dietary restrictions. I've never seen a Quality Inn this bad. If another hotel opens here, this one will be put out of business.

We booked two rooms for one night. Michelle was kind when she checked us in that evening. The first room was fine, but the toilet in the second had plumbing issues. The front desk kindly moved us, but the next room hadn't been made up after the previous guest, so we went back and were moved a third time. That final room was clean, everything worked, and the bathroom had two sets of towels, though it was short one trash bin, with only one in the bathroom. The hot breakfast included eggs, sausages, waffles, pastries, cereal, and more. It's in a great location, with a Mexican restaurant across the street and Walmart within walking distance. Our final room, shown in the photo, was good and clean. Despite the room problems and inconvenience, we had a pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel.
