Hampton Inn & Suites Pekin Peoria Area

The stay came to nearly $400 for two nights, with almost $200 per night plus a nonrefundable $75 deposit for our kenneled dog. For that price, the service we got was nowhere near acceptable, and I can’t recommend the hotel. Management apologized the next day and said they’d put points on my Hilton account, but I still haven’t seen any points or discount. We’d chosen this hotel because of the pool, which I mentioned when making the reservation by phone. When we arrived, we were told it would be out of service all weekend, our whole stay, so my daughter couldn’t swim on her birthday. The breakfast was mediocre, and all the bananas and apples were bad. Our room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. They didn’t offer another room, just gave us fresh blankets, sheets, and pillowcases, which we had to change ourselves. The bathroom was dirty too, including the sink and shower, and there was no hot water. Given what the hotel offered, I could have stayed somewhere else for less. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had.

The rooms looked modern and were very clean, with lots of places to plug in devices. Everything was nice and clean. We only had two issues: the sink faucet sprayed water everywhere, and the shower head did the same and needs to be changed or cleaned.

Denise kept breakfast hot and ready, offered help, and was constantly cleaning and checking on people. There was lots to choose from. The pool area was clean, stocked, and a good temperature, though there’s no hot tub. There’s also a small enclosed patio outside. Jenn at the front desk took care of what I needed and went above and beyond when I asked for something. My room was clean and even smelled nice, and the location is close to shops and restaurants. Great stay, I’d recommend it.

The staff are always welcoming and nice, and I’ve never had a problem with noise in my room, especially since the hotel sits well back from busy roads. It’s a newer-style Hampton, with roomy, nice rooms. The construction is typical Hampton too, with noisy floors and thin walls, but that’s fairly standard. This is always my first choice when I’m in the area.
