Super 8 by Wyndham Petaluma

The floors were dusty, and the towel I used after showering smelled terrible and had black spots on it. In the bathroom, the toilet was bigger than the seat, and the toilet seat cover didn't even match. There wasn't a lamp or a picture in the room. I don't know why Wyndham is involved with this place and letting it happen.

There was a cockroach in the tub, the bathroom was dirty, and we left five minutes after checking in. We told the front desk we were staying elsewhere. Chrissy was the only decent, kind employee we dealt with, and she asked us to return the next day when the manager was there. Amanda, the “manager,” dodged us all day. The woman on the phone was rude and said she didn't know when Amanda would be in, after accusing us of using the bed even though we hadn't touched anything. A few hours later, I called back and the phone was picked up and hung up on me three times. When we returned a couple of hours after that, the manager was storming around the front desk and kept asking, “what do you want from me?!” Eventually they offered a refund. Horrible service, nasty and rude staff, and filthy rooms with cockroaches coming out of the plumbing. Probably the worst hotel experience I've had.

We had to switch rooms three times, though the staff were kind and understanding. In the first room, there were shoe prints all over the bed. In the second, my one-year-old nearly ate a cockroach. In the third, the door lock was attached with just one screw. My husband, our child, and I won't stay there again.

The motel itself was awful, as other people have said. I attached two pictures: one showed a broken smoke alarm and paint stain on the desk. There were more stains in the bathroom, but I didn't bother taking pictures. After reading the reviews, I checked for roaches and bed bugs and luckily found none. Still, my skin got itchy and I had red bumps after lying in the bed and using their blanket. I'd booked a room with breakfast, but in the morning they told me there was none because they were transitioning to a new company, Wyndham. The whole complex was dirty, especially the laundry room. The microwave was too dirty for me to touch, and there was no hair dryer or kettle in the room. I won't come back. The one bright spot was the tall, black-haired gentleman at the front desk. He was the only receptionist during my stay, juggling phone calls and customers, but he was always patient. He let me exchange coins for laundry, and when the dryer didn't work, he offered to dry my clothes in the back. I didn't have a clean bag, so he went to his room to find one for me. He always greeted me with a smile and answered my questions patiently. I forgot to thank him when I checked out in the morning, but I hope he sees this and knows how great he was. I've stayed in hotels, motels, and hostels, and it's rare to meet a receptionist like him.
