Red Roof Inn Petersburg - Fort Lee

The location is convenient, but I wouldn’t stay here again with my family and young child. This felt like a serious safety hazard. The door looked clawed at, the window was broken enough that you could nearly poke a finger outside, and my husband could walk straight into the room without a key. There was no molding along the floor or windows. The bathroom floor, sink, and mirror looked uncleaned, with splatters of something on the walls. We found one towel, no washcloths or hand towels, and only half a roll of toilet paper. We wouldn’t have used the shower anyway. The online photos looked completely different. We spent 10-15 minutes driving around to find the room, letting the dogs out, and sorting the vehicles before we went inside. We asked the desk not to charge us because we wouldn’t stay, but were told that since we’d checked in 33 minutes earlier and had been there over 15 minutes, we’d only get a partial refund. They didn’t say how much, just that the manager would work it out the next day. I was appalled by the room and by not getting a full refund for being there 33 minutes. We didn’t use the toilet or anything, and were in the room maybe 10 minutes. I included pictures.

There were hairs everywhere, the floor was dirty, the towels were soiled, and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. The room clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly before we arrived, and it fell far below even basic cleaning standards. Very disappointing and unacceptable for a hotel.

The location is the only thing going for this place. Our room smelled musty, the bathroom was dirty, and electrical wires stuck out of the wall. It wasn’t worth $80. If I’d known I could get my money back, we wouldn’t have stayed, though we all know how that usually goes.

I’m on the road at least twice a month and stay at RedRoof often, but I’ve never run into this before. I stopped by about 30 minutes ago after traveling all day, without booking online because I wasn’t sure how far I’d go. Three people greeted me, then immediately said there were no rooms and that I’d needed to reserve online. There were only two cars in the lot and several curtains open, like rooms were empty and cleaned. Nobody even checked the computer. Before leaving the lot, I looked online and found several rooms available. The employees were just lazy. After reading these reviews, maybe they saved me from bedbugs or whatever else is going on there. I’m more than disappointed and won’t try this location again.
