Jolly Roger Motel

This was my second stay at the Jolly Roger, and the first was better. The owners were nice, the rooms clean, the pool good, and the beach is right across the street. But the bathroom had nowhere to put anything, the rooms could use updating, and you should bring the kitchen things you’d normally use at home. Most of all, check that you’re getting the room you booked. I had an email confirming a first-floor poolside room, but was given a second-floor one instead. We got bumped, with no real discussion. The owner just said sorry, and didn’t seem bothered when I said I’d look elsewhere next time. I paid for a particular room and didn’t get it. I won’t return.

We spent a week here in June 2025, and the staff made my daughter and me feel right at home. The cleaning ladies did a great job, and everyone was kind. I was impressed with the room and amenities, and couldn’t find anything negative to say. We spent more time at the beach than by the pool, which I kind of regret. Thanks for making our vacation so good. We’ll be back.

The location made it easy to get to the beach, boardwalk, and restaurants, and there was plenty of parking. Check-in was quick, and the facilities we needed were there, including a designated smoking area. Our room had new furniture and was comfortable and clean. The staff and owners were friendly and helpful, and the free coffee was delicious. We had a great time and will be back soon.

The walls are so thin I could hear the kid next door screaming. Still, this is a clean, very casual motel that’s been recently remodeled and has some nice extras. The beds are basic but decent, and the small bathroom worked fine for two. There was a TV, fridge, microwave, and a nice patio. You can walk to the beach, Centennial Park, and several decent restaurants. The pool, pickleball courts, cornhole, on-site coffee shop, and especially the great ice machine were all there too.
