Holiday Inn Express Suites Phenix City Ft. Benning

We couldn't get another room because they said the hotel was fully booked, so we had to stay in a room that was muggy, smelled awful like a gym bag left in a hot room, and had a bathroom door that opened only halfway. The third floor was being renovated, with debris and a chemical smell in the hallway. After the first night, I told the attendant we needed to cancel our second night, since we weren't staying again. They just told me to contact Hotels.com and didn't help. Hotels.com has reached out several times, but the hotel won't respond about a refund. There are plenty of other hotels to choose from.

The location was convenient, and the rooms were clean. The breakfast area was set up nicely and never felt crowded. We were welcomed with a smile and looked after well. I'd come back to this location.

The front desk staff were wonderful, but after our second stay here, I don't think we'll return. In the first room, the sheets had marks that looked like blood. They moved us, but the second room had two similar stains. In the third room, there was "stuff" on the duvet cover, so we gave up on finding a clean bed and left it off. Before we left, I showed the head of housekeeping the photos and explained what had happened. She didn't seem interested and wasn't very friendly.

It was easy to book through the app, and the staff were very friendly. We had a beautiful room and a quiet first night. The second night was rough, with the guy next door leaving his TV on all night and kids in the room on the other side yelling until well past midnight. That was out of the hotel's hands, though, and otherwise we had a wonderful stay. I'd come back.
