Sonder at The Terrace

The elevator keypad had an odd glitch where it wouldn’t accept the last digit of the security code. It didn’t happen often enough for me to remember to ask anyone about it. I spent 9 nights here visiting friends again. It felt more like an apartment than a regular hotel, and it was clean with no major damage. For the price, I’d definitely consider coming back. I contacted customer service once to ask where the bathroom light was, and they replied promptly. I didn’t have any major problems, so I can’t say how they’d handle those. Check-in and check-out, including getting the key code, are done through the Sonder app.

The location was the best part. It’s right in the middle of the city, easy to walk to the main attractions, and our balcony had a nice view. The young woman who helped us get into the room early was friendly and helpful too. The apartment looked clean at first, but it wasn’t: there were dirty towels, hairs everywhere, and the backdoor was dirty. The balcony was covered with cigarette butts. The AC was noisy, and we could hear the elevator and fridge. Watching TV meant downloading several smart-home apps, which really wasn’t our thing. Online check-in involved an ID scan and real-time face check, which was annoying. We arrived 45 minutes before check-in and had to pay $25 for early access. The door codes didn’t work right and took several tries, so getting into the apartment could take a while. I’m not sure I’d book a place like this again.

The apartment is minimal and close to City Hall. Everything seems new, and check-in is online. It’s my first day here, so I’ll update this review as the days go by.

The balcony had a nice view, and the shower worked great. The apartments themselves were nice, BUT between elevator dinging late at night, parties, loud music, and bed bugs, this was an experience I won’t forget. I’d never want to deal with Sonder’s staff and regulations again. They screwed me over royally when I tried cancelling. I can only recommend Sonder to lawyers.
