What I liked most was having separate rooms, which gave me a better chance of avoiding noisy neighbors. Hotels can annoy me easily, but I was happy I gave this place a chance and would stay again. Check-in was easy, the room was private, and the HVAC responded well when we needed to get comfortable.

For a low price, this is a solid place in a perfect location. Check-in was easy and the space was very clean. It feels like you get what you pay for, and that works here. Our apartment was one of two basement units in an old building, so I understand there are some limitations. The two wall/window HVAC units were loud, though that didn’t bother us. Other things did: the dresser drawers were too dirty and worn to use, the bed pillows were worn out and uncomfortable, there was nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom, and the bedroom had no convenient outlet for a phone. The spare toilet paper wasn’t where it was meant to be either. Management brought more promptly after we messaged, so it wasn’t a big problem, but it should have been there already. UrHIP communicated a lot by text and email and called a couple of days before our arrival and again that day with entry details and to confirm our arrival time. They offered to pick up groceries, and when I declined, they said there would be bottled water in the room. There wasn’t any. That’s a small complaint, but I wouldn’t mention it if they hadn’t said it would be there.

We were left outside in the cold for over 30 minutes on check-in day, with nobody there to help or let us into the building. The instructions we were supposed to receive after booking never came, and the phone number in my confirmation no longer existed. We eventually found another number and reached a woman named Jennifer. She confirmed we had a booking but said we still had to complete some online requirements before they could let us in. She never apologized for failing to contact us or send the instructions ahead of time. They still wouldn’t let us into the building, so I had to ask to wait in the hallway while we completed the steps. This was the worst customer experience I’ve had with any travel company, and I travel a lot. The whole thing felt sketchy and unprofessional, and we didn’t feel comfortable. We’re not coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The location was exactly right for eating out and taking long walks around Philly. I left my car less than a block away and didn’t move it for the whole four days. We booked a last-minute weekend trip through UrHomeInPhilly and stayed in their Rittenhouse studio. It was well kept, and the hosts were quick to respond. Can’t say enough about how great the location was.
