The 1774 Inn

I love photographing weddings at The 1774 Inn in Maine. The restored inn, wide views, and sailcloth tent among open fields make a romantic setting for timeless wedding photos, with coastal elegance and historic New England charm. The whole place feels warm and intimate while still having an elevated style. From the light-filled getting-ready rooms to sunset portraits on the dock, the details make everything feel effortless.

Having the 1774 Inn to ourselves for four days changed our wedding weekend completely. It felt like a real gathering with family and friends, not one rushed event. Quiet mornings, long meals, and trips to local spots became some of our most meaningful moments, right alongside the wedding. From the beginning, the Inn team and their trusted local vendors were flexible, responsive, and invested in making it work for us and our guests. They adjusted plans and answered questions throughout. On the wedding morning, instead of feeling rushed, we were relaxed on the porch with iced coffee, knowing everything was coming together. The weekend exceeded our expectations, and the venue felt personal, unhurried, and deeply special.

We found The 1774 Inn on social media while looking for wedding venues, scheduled a tour, and immediately fell in love with it. We didn’t secure a weekend in 2026 because life got in the way, which was unfortunate. Still, the place and team felt magical. Marianne was organized, communicative, welcoming, and down-to-earth from the start. She patiently answered my many emails and texts throughout the summer, always promptly and with enthusiasm. The Inn itself is breathtaking, from the grounds and rooms to the view. Everything felt unreal!

We wanted a wedding venue that felt unique and that we could make our own, and the 1774 delivered. It’s jaw-droppingly gorgeous, and getting to call it home for 4 days made it special. Staying on site with our closest friends and family led to so many good moments and new connections over the weekend. The team was easy and delightful to work with. Marianne was kind and helpful from our very first tour, and kept answering my many, MANY questions as we planned. They also know lots of great local vendors and helped recommend many of the ones we used. Don’t hesitate to book this venue!
