Delta Hotels by Marriott Virginia Beach Waterfront Suites

I had a tight schedule and needed a room late at night, but everywhere else was booked or wasn't accepting late reservations. Ashley helped me get checked in on May 31st, and her personality and welcoming vibe made a big difference. It was my first time there, and I loved the customer service and the stay. The room was clean, quiet, and private. I'll be back.

I've stayed here several times for both work and personal trips, and it's still my first choice in the VA Beach area. The staff are what make it a five-star stay. They're calm and accommodating when something comes up or you have a simple request. The location on the bay side of Virginia Beach is fantastic, and feels more local than staying by the oceanfront and boardwalk.

This is a gorgeous property and convenient for what I need right now, which makes the experience especially disappointing. My first two stays between late April and early May were incredible. On the third, after a long week of work and caring for an ill close relative, I ordered dinner, rewatched some of Scandal, and went to bed in a lovely room with a great view. In the morning, ants covered the bed and nightstand. I took my things straight to the service desk. The agent called engineering and housekeeping, but didn't offer much else. When I asked to move, the reply was, “we don’t have any available.” I said I'd be away in the morning and return later that afternoon to switch rooms, and got a flat “okay”. The second agent, who was much kinder and more concerned, helped with the room change and asked whether anyone had offered compensation. I said no and asked if she could help. She couldn't, but said she'd find someone who could. I never heard anything more.

My wife and I enjoyed our few days here, but the billing was a mess. At check-in they told us parking cost $31 a day, which was fine. After checkout, the emailed bill had more than $150 in extra fees listed as “other,” on top of parking and taxes. I called twice over the next week and spoke with Patrick. At first he seemed unaware of those charges, then said they'd be removed, but the total on our card hasn't changed. From the other comments, we're not the only ones. Check the bill at the desk before leaving and make a fuss if needed. I wish we had. Great place, bad business.
