Hilton Phoenix Airport

I ended up here after missing a connecting flight. The property is a little dated, but the service was warm and efficient, from the airport shuttle drivers to reception and the restaurant waitresses. The team let me take the airport shuttle several times to sort out a ticket rebooking issue, and kept my luggage after checkout until it was time for my evening flight.

Hilton properties seem to be falling short on basic maintenance and modernization. The Diamond / executive lounge is another disappointment: if all they offer is soda and water, it hardly seems worth having. I'll stick with Marriott, which does a fantastic job of looking after business travelers like me who are on the road 200+ nights a year.

The only good thing about this place was how close it is to the airport. You expect a certain level of luxury at a Hilton, and this wasn't it. The bathroom was completely unsatisfactory: the tub was discolored with mold, the curtains were falling apart, and both the tub and sink drained slowly. The restaurant food was poorly prepared. This place needs renovating.

The restaurant charged $41 for a basic steak with small sides, and I left wishing I’d booked somewhere else. Our executive-level room had peeling wallpaper, dusty shelves under the bathroom sink, and tub grout that looked more desert-sand colored than white. The smell was bad everywhere, especially the elevator, hallways, and rooms, like a locker room. Even the last Motel 6 I stayed at had been painted more recently. I can’t see how this place has three stars unless it’s because of the Hilton name. You don’t get what you pay for.
