Hampton Inn Pine Grove

Breakfast was the standout for me: the nicest included one I've had, with two waffle flavors and lots of toppings, juice, bagels, scones, pastries, muffins, hard-boiled eggs, mini omelets, cottage potatoes, and plenty of sauces. The room was spotless, the beds comfortable, and there were great pillows plus an extra blanket we didn't need. It was quiet overall, except for some loud guests in the hallway leaving at 6am. Laurie checked us in and was fantastic, competent, informative, and friendly. She even remembered our phone conversation from a few hours earlier. We were traveling with two dogs, paid what I think was a flat $75 fee regardless of stay length, and got the first-floor room I asked for. We were just past the mid-way entrance, which stays locked 24/7, so getting in and out with the dogs was easy and we could avoid the lobby and elevator. There was a huge field for walking them, plus a dog waste bag station and trash can. The well-lit, clean parking lot felt safe. We ate at the nearby diner the night before. It had a cute 50's vibe, and the food was so-so, fine but not great. We probably should've stuck with burgers, fries, and shakes.

The room was very clean, and breakfast was included with a waffle bar. Customer service at check-in was really friendly. It's not far from the casino. This was my first stay, but I plan to come back. Highly recommend.

I thought we'd have a nice afternoon swimming, so I arrived back in my hometown this morning excited to watch my 1-year-old granddaughter and get a room at the Hampton. I waited in the lobby for a friend who said she'd called and had a room on hold. There was a mix-up between two towns with similar names, and general manager Carol Donmoyer rudely told me, like a child, that she didn't have to rent to me because of a no-locals policy. That would've been fine, but my physical address is still three hours away, and I only wanted to explain that. She pulled up my Facebook and called me a liar because I have friends from pg. There was no talking to her. As I left upset, she called me a name I'm too embarrassed to repeat here. I'm appalled they'd let her deal with the public. Carol seems to route all complaint lines back to herself, so the card she gave me for complaining was useless. I hope to hear from corporate. There was no reason for her attitude or harsh treatment, and the whole thing was a huge disappointment in basic human decency.

Even during a busy, nearly sold-out car show weekend, Carol and Sarah were a big help getting my family booked. When we realized we'd need to extend, Carol smoothly combined my two separate reservations and took the guesswork out of it so we could enjoy our time. My toddler had fun exploring the room and breakfast area. Everything was clean and tidy, even while they were remodeling.
