The rooms get plenty of natural light, and each has an ocean-view balcony. The place is clean and well cared for, with that cool 1960s architecture and lots of handy amenities. The front desk even has a J1772 to NACS adapter, so you can charge a Tesla at either of the two 6KW destination chargers.

I’ve been coming back to the Atlantis with my family since the 1980s, on and off. It’s oceanfront, with lovely views and great balconies, and it’s dog friendly. The suites have kitchenettes if you want to make your own meals and keep to yourself on vacation, which is very much my style. There are also plenty of local restaurants and chain places just minutes away. People are generally considerate about noise, and there’s a policy in place. I’ve never had to raise an issue with staff. The shared lounge is meant to be a nice spot, though it’s closed for renovations right now. I saw that on the website when I booked, even though a previous reviewer said they hadn’t been told. If you want a good beach stay, give the Atlantis a try. It may not be your vibe, but I keep coming back.

Hearing the ocean from our room was such a treat, and the beach views have really stuck with me. The property is gorgeous, and the room had what we needed to stay comfortably for a longer visit. There are useful amenities around the property too. We had a fantastic time, from check-in to settling in, and they quickly switched us to another room after we extended our booking beyond the one night we’d first planned. Five stars all around for Atlantis Lodge. If I had a million dollars, I know where I’d spend it.

We were disappointed that the lounge was closed for renovations, since it was one reason we booked, and we hadn’t seen that mentioned when reserving. At checkout, the young adult at the desk didn’t offer compensation or even ask how the stay went. The beach location and nearby restaurants were definite pluses, though. Our first-floor room had a nice view and a layout we liked, but it was dusty, with a large spiderweb in the kitchen. After we unpacked, we found one roach on the toilet, then another. The office was closed, but the man who answered the after-hours number came to the room quickly. We’d counted ten by then and said we couldn’t stay there. He checked availability and moved us to a clean second-floor room around 9 pm. He said they’d been spraying, and we didn’t see any more roaches. Check-in had been okay, though the woman wasn’t friendly. I initially said we wouldn’t return. Update: Management apologized and compensated us, so we’ll visit again once renovations are complete.

The beds were INCREDIBLE, so comfortable. We stayed five nights and were really pleased with how clean and well equipped the suite was. There was a huge bathroom with two sinks, cabinets, plenty of towels and linen, strong shower pressure, and lots of hot water. The suite felt thoughtfully laid out, with generous closet space that could serve as a dressing area, deep shelves, comfortable living room furniture, a basic dining table for four, and a private deck facing the ocean. It had good appliances, plenty of dishes and cookware, a coffee maker, and a 42-inch TV for rainy days with music options. The AC worked very well. The separate dehumidifier was noisy, but we only used it during the day. Outside, there are two pet-walking areas with waste bags and a collection station. The dog wash was much appreciated, and they provide shampoo and conditioner. There are also little outdoor seating nooks, plus a large popular area with modern furniture, a fire pit, grills, and picnic tables. On the beach there are plenty of chairs, loungers, and umbrellas. The place feels welcoming, very pet friendly, and pleasantly old school, like small-town beach trips from before the 1970s. We first heard about Atlantis in Our State magazine. A few drawbacks: there are no elevators, so anyone with mobility issues will need a first-floor room. The walkways are narrow, and except for the path from the parking lot to the office, there aren’t other access points. You have to drag or lift luggage several feet up to walkway level, which can be hard for older people who can’t lift much. The pool is beautiful, but its heating system was broken. We’d hoped to swim in warm water while recovering from knee and back surgeries, and had counted on that option. The pool is usually open through the end of October, but this won’t stop us from coming back. The buildings have concrete floors covered in carpet or linoleum. We were on the first floor and heard scraping chairs, heavy footsteps, running, and doors slamming after midnight from above. We’ll bring earplugs next year. This isn’t fancy or a bath and tennis club, just very clean, roomy lodging with a great private stretch of beach and lovely places to sit and take it all in. It had far more good points than bad.
