Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, St. Petersburg - Clearwater, FL

We had a great trip and the location was perfect. The tub leaked constantly, day and night, even after I told the front desk. Also, the smell of pot was coming into our room. Putting a towel at the bottom of the door helped keep it out, but not smelling it would’ve made things better.

The breakfast was hot and ready, and the staff were friendly. The rooms have been recently renovated. It’s not fancy, but it has what you’d expect and was clean. Only small complaint: I had to run the washer twice to get the soap rinsed out of my clothes.

I was there for about five minutes before checking out. The hallways smelled like pee, the rooms were extremely hot, the shower wasn’t clean, and the beds were dirty. The old blankets had mold in them. Staff, including the manager, were very rude. They charged me a $200 deposit, refunded it, then took it out of my account again and refused to return it. They also charge different guests different deposit amounts, which I’d never heard of before. Don’t stay here. It’s one of the nastiest hotels I’ve seen.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which was a highlight. Still, the place fell short of what I’m used to at Hampton Inn, Hilton, or Marriott, so I’d look elsewhere if you want that level of quality. Carpets throughout the hotel and rooms looked worn and need replacing or a deep clean. Towels and linens also seem overdue for an update. One guest said the towels had been used so much they’d turned tan instead of white, like the sheets. Breakfast could use work too: the powdered eggs were watery, most options were pork-based, and some guests found the pancakes tasted off, possibly from stale or low-quality mix. It might suit some travelers, though.
