The suite was roomy and clean, though it felt dated, and most of the staff were helpful. A couple of people at the desk, however, seemed grumpy and as if they disliked the customers. You have to ask for a receipt even after your card is charged, and getting a copy later was a struggle. One night I called for mine. The male employee whose name starts with H hung up twice. On my third call, he refused to send it, saying it was “confidential” and that I should call the manager in the morning. When I asked what was confidential about a receipt, he complained that I’d called after midnight. The desk is open around the clock, isn’t it? I explained again that I only wanted the receipt for what I’d paid, and he accused me of not listening before hanging up a third time. His behavior doesn’t speak for all the hardworking people there, but it made the hotel look really bad. We stayed several nights while visiting from out of state.

The elevators made getting around a hassle. At least one on each side seemed to be out of order, and the ones available were so slow that we often waited as long as 10 minutes. Management should look at replacing or modernizing them. Our room also smelled strongly of old smoke when we arrived. The hotel is smoke-free, and staff gave us odor neutralizer, but it was disappointing that the room hadn’t been deep-cleaned beforehand. We came for a wedding in the NJ/NY area and stayed 4-5 nights, choosing the hotel for its affordable rate and spacious suites so we could keep one home base. The suite worked well for our family, including a genuinely comfortable sofa bed. Breakfast was a standout, with plenty of options that the kids loved. The highway is nearby, parking felt secure and had lots of spaces, and there are evening snacks and drinks, though we were usually out and missed them. There was a mix-up with the floor and location we’d requested. It had been confirmed, then changed twice, and the promised room wasn’t available when we checked in late. The front desk woman was great about my frustration and found us a similar room that suited us. With better elevators and stronger enforcement of the smoke-free policy, this could have been a five-star stay.

The rooms are a little dated, but the lobby is a relaxing place to sit. We’ve always had good service and a clean room, and both the breakfast and coffee are excellent. The evening happy hours are nice too. The entrance road is awful at the moment, though it’s being repaired.

In room 205, the bed by the window had a visible dip, and the heat vent kept me up with its noise. In the middle of winter they left just one sheet and one light cover. The woman at reception was really nice when we checked in, and the morning checkout staff member was sweet. Breakfast was good, though there was no turkey bacon.
