Mountain View Mansion

The house has great potential, with spectacular mountain views and a prime location, but we spent our vacation doing the housekeeping we were paying for. The website photos and reviews were misleading. It was clear nothing had been cleaned before we arrived: the smell sent us out for supplies, and we found soiled diapers, dirty underwear, food in dresser drawers, dust and dirt everywhere, piles of dead bugs, and unwashed sheets with large questionable stains that looked like dried blood. We learned about a pool leak just hours before arrival. While crews worked in the pool house, or shortly after they left, the main house would regularly lose water. The maintenance workers were diligent, but paying guests shouldn’t have to keep contacting them because of a pre-existing issue and worry about being charged for damage.

The maintenance crew was great and deserves a raise. The cleaning was completely disgusting, the worst job ever, and the cleaning crew should be fired. We’ll never rent from Elk again. They gave us a $500 refund, which felt like a joke. Find somewhere else.

The place was unsanitary, far beyond just being a little lived-in. It felt like management cared more about hiring a professional photographer than keeping a good cleaning crew. To me, that’s blatant false advertising. Save your money and avoid it, unless you’re fine with feeling lied to and possibly catching something.

Very dirty, and the photos and information gave a misleading picture. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re happy cleaning house during your vacation.
