Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburg by IHG

This used to be my go-to place when I came to town to see friends. I stayed here when it was under prior management, and it was a great place. Since then, it's gone downhill, so take the positive reviews with a grain of salt. After how the staff handled a phone call about my upcoming reservation, I won't be back. I had booked an April stay a while ago. When I saw IHG was having a flash sale, I canceled the original booking and rebooked at a better rate. Neither reservation required a deposit, which is why I made the change. Then I checked my bank and credit cards and found I'd already been charged for the new booking. I called the hotel yesterday morning to ask why and got the runaround, with no answers. It took four calls before anyone said the manager thought all those bookings were prepaid. There was no apology, just the implication that it was my fault. I booked the Hampton Inn for the same price and got a much better room. I like the value IHG hotels offer and stay at a lot of them while traveling around the world. I'm a Platinum Elite member and have never been made to feel like such a problem. After this mess and no apology from the staff or office manager, I won't stay at this particular IHG again.
