Kasa Unique Studio Explore Bakery Square The Maverick

The Hey Babe restaurant and bar was a highlight of my work weekend at the Maverick. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. Rob, the owner, spent the evening checking on guests and helping out around the restaurant. I also enjoyed my clean, nicely decorated room. Check-in and checkout are online and contactless, and worked without a hitch for me. Jason from Kasa helped me check in, answered all my questions, and was very friendly. There was a staff member around during the day if anything came up. There’s no parking on site. I left my car on the street and fed the meter using the ParkMobile app. I’d stay here again.

We came to Pittsburgh for the weekend to attend a ceremony for my son at CMU, and the Maverick’s unusual vibe was a real draw. Getting in with the key code was easy, and the virtual desk responded quickly. Our room had what we needed, with a comfortable bed and pillows. It was very quiet, and earplugs were available too. We liked the building’s architectural details, including the intricate woodwork, marble stairs, original gym, and other distinctive features. The lobby coffee station was handy, and the attendant was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the hotel’s history. Babe Cafe in the lobby had a warm, welcoming feel, great service, and outstanding eggplant and crafted drinks. We ended both evenings there before heading back to our cozy room. Parking behind the building cost about the same as at hotels that charge for parking. Walnut Street has good shops and food, about a 10-15 minute walk or a quick drive away. We hope to return next fall.

I was here for a business trip about two weeks ago and would happily stay again. The room’s look was great, and there’s a restaurant and bar in the building, plus a few other places to eat nearby. Check-in was high tech and easy, and I had no trouble getting into the building or my room. I’d recommend it.

This was a wonderful stay, and I’ll be back during NFL season. The hotel’s in a really good area, with coffee shops and great food nearby, and it’s not too far from downtown or the North Shore. Check-in had a small hiccup because we arrived after the employees had gone home. After a few minutes, calling the number on the sign got everything sorted out. A bit more signage would have made the process easier.
