We left and had to find another hotel. I’m trusting that I’ll get a full refund for both rooms, and wish I’d taken more photos of this “gem” 🙄. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels for work, and this was by far the most disgusting. I can only assume the General Manager won’t spend money on employees, cleaners, or maintenance. Don’t be fooled by the tidy, welcoming reception area. The rooms felt like another world: the floors were filthy and hadn’t even been vacuumed, with food scattered around, and the headboards were covered in who knows what. Fire alarms were hanging off the wall or didn’t work, and the air vent was so nasty I couldn’t touch it. This place wouldn’t pass an inspection. There was so much filth in the rooms, unlike anything I’ve seen. I’m certain the good reviews are from people they know. There’s no way anyone enjoyed staying here.

The pool and pool area are really nice, and the hotel is still clean and comfortable. It loses a few points because the bar and restaurant are gone now. Breakfast is decent, though I wish they had non-pork meat options. The staff have always been great. Melissa at the front desk should be the GM, and everyone should learn from her. It’s a hidden gem. Book it and enjoy a comfortable stay.

It was dirty everywhere, and I couldn’t get past that. There was trash outside the hotel, between the building and pool, in the stairwells and hallways, and even some in our room. Wallpaper was peeling and hanging off the walls. We didn’t get the room shown in the photos we booked from. The thermostat didn’t work, and the sink leaked. It felt like they’d updated only certain things and used photos of those on the website, which was really misleading. Breakfast was so-so, with dirty counters and tables, stale bread, and bagels. Just a horrible hotel overall.

We checked out and had to pay for another hotel. It felt like they cared about money instead of guests’ safety. We’d asked nicely several times for the accessible parking and walkways to be cleared, but after returning from the hospital around 6:30 p.m., they still weren’t. The ramp to the main entrance hadn’t been cleared or salted either. I have double-fused ankles, can’t walk far, and have a handicap placard. My husband was about to have surgery and would need a walker, so this was unsafe for both of us and everyone else. The manager wouldn’t come down to speak with us. A trucker came in and complained about the inaccessible entrances too. The plow operator had said he’d get it done, but couldn’t get around a tractor trailer that was stuck in the lot for hours. I have time-stamped pictures. We asked at check-in, when reporting the lack of heat, and again when my husband called while we were at Target getting a few things. After switching rooms, we still had to set the heat to 85 and were freezing. The hallway smelled strongly of mold, was very cold, and had ice on the doors. I don’t know why the owner didn’t come talk to us if they cared at all, instead of just saying to call tomorrow. UPMC St Margaret gave us the hotel’s name. We arrived about 2 p.m. on January 28th for two nights and explained that we needed an accessible room because of his surgery. Room 156 was near entrance door 2. After an hour, we reported that it wasn’t warming up, and they moved us to room 158. We’d also pointed out that the snow was blocking the accessible parking and path to the entrance. This was the most unpleasant stay ever.

We hated our stay. In the first room, the shower had no hot water, and it wasn’t coming out of the faucet either. This wasn’t a water-heater problem. We went to the front desk, where a woman I assume was the manager was brushing her teeth with an electric toothbrush. She asked, “Well what do you want us to do about it?” They moved us. The next room had hot water, but its tub wouldn’t drain. There was trash around, and the lobby and hallways looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed. A bowl of cereal sat on the stairs for the whole week. I know Comfort inn standards, especially during inspections, and this location would get so many write-ups. I can see why the bar even let its lease lapse.
