The elevators felt like Casper the ghost was riding them. That was only part of the problem, though. I booked a room with two double beds and a sofa bed, but got a king bed and sofa bed instead. I didn’t care that much about the bed count, but it wasn’t what I’d booked. The woman at the desk was the only one working that night, and I don’t blame her, but when I asked for an extra blanket, she gave me one with a roach on it. I only noticed after I got to my room. The roach came off the blanket, and there were bugs on the floor too. I left and booked another nearby hotel. She wasn’t authorized to refund me, so I called back the next day. They only refunded one of the two nights because I had “checked in.” I was there less than 30 minutes between check-in and check-out. I’ve filed a formal complaint asking them to refund the other night as well.

After my stay at another Hyatt property, changing hotels reminded me why I like Hyatt Place. This one had a great feel to it, and the crew did a wonderful job looking after both the place and its guests.

The room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast had lots to choose from and was really good. I noticed the toilet flapper had come off and fixed it myself, no big deal. On our second day, they refreshed the towels and serviced the room while we were out, which was nice. The hotel was clean and probably one of the best I’ve stayed at in a while.

Breakfast was unpleasant when a large bug showed up in the dining area. Staff got it out quickly, which I appreciated, but it was still a bad moment. On my last morning, housekeeping woke me at 8 a.m. despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign, just to ask whether I was checking out that day. That felt intrusive and unnecessary. The elevators were a constant hassle, reopening over and over as they tried to close. I understand housekeeping has to move garbage, but the smell was awful, and I haven’t had that problem at other hotels. I’d expect them to use the stairs. The elevator also makes a very unwelcoming noise and needs attention. I stayed five nights, and the front desk staff often seemed unprofessional, offering personal opinions instead of clear answers to questions. I’ve been in 2.5-star hotels that felt closer to four stars and had no complaints. This one didn’t meet that bar and truly takes the cake. I hope management addresses these problems. I’m sharing this as constructively as I can so future guests have a better stay.

The room was clean and well furnished, and I had no issues during my three nights here for a conference, two weekend nights and one weeknight. Check-in was simple, and Vanessa was very helpful. Getting around was easy, although they might want to have the elevators inspected. The air conditioning in my room was fantastic in the heat. I used the gym three times. Its AC was out, so those workouts got hot. It’s a small space, probably crowded with three people, though I was usually there alone. I had to put on my own music because the speakers played the hotel lobby music, which didn’t work for a workout. Breakfast was enough to cover the basics: eggs, sausages, breads, fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, juice, and milk. I think weekend hours are 7:30-10:30 a.m. and weekday hours are 6:30-10:30 a.m., but double-check that. My only complaint was that they took the coffee away after breakfast. It’d be nice to have a pot available all day. There’s also a lobby snack bar and alcohol bar, which I didn’t use. I believe they’re open until 11, with last call at 10:45 p.m. I had a nice stay and will be back.
