Super 8 by Wyndham Plano/Dallas Area

I travel around the world with my partner and have never been treated this badly. I’d stayed here several nights and paid cash, then had two medical emergencies that required ambulance trips to two different hospitals. When I came back from the second visit in my pajamas, they told me to leave immediately because my diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis made me a risk to the hotel. If you have medical issues, don’t choose this place. I wasn’t the only person made to leave that day, but I was the only one told to go because of medical problems. The snacks and sodas are overpriced too, so don’t buy anything you forgot to bring. Worst experience ever.

We had planned to stay for three nights, but had to leave after my spouse’s allergies led to anaphylaxis from the cigarette smell in our room. We’d specifically requested a non-smoking room, and they said the whole building was smoke-free. We went straight to the ER and returned to check out after barely three hours in the room. I was still willing to pay for the first night, and showed the manager our ER bills to explain why we couldn’t stay. He was rude, barely listened, and wouldn’t offer any credit or refund. After going back and forth, he agreed to refund just the final night. It was frustrating and disappointing. The woman who checked us in had been kind and helpful, but this left a bad taste. The other negative reviews and the replies give you a good idea of what to expect.

I’ve stayed here before without problems, and I’m a Wyndham diamond member who spends over 250 nights a year out of town. I won’t be back after this. I’d planned to book a week online for $427, but asked the new front desk employee for a better price. He quoted $395 plus a $50 deposit, which I accepted, and put me in a room with two queen beds even though I’d asked for two double beds. Almost four hours later, I got a call saying he’d made a mistake and I owed about $85 more because of the room type. I said I’d take the room and price the employee had given me. I was willing to move my things to another room, but not pay more than we’d agreed before I signed the receipt. The manager said I had to pay the room’s nightly rate even though I’d only been there four hours. I refused, so leaving was the only option. They kept $100 over a mistake their own employee made. As I left, the manager told me I was lucky he hadn’t kept all $445 because I’d broken the contract by leaving. I didn’t want to go, but I wasn’t paying for a Super 8 mistake. I’ve never had a hotel problem before. I’d give this encounter with Super 8 Plano zero stars if I could.

Otherwise, it was a great stay. Just be aware that the desk staff may try to add a $15 service fee if you booked through a third party like Priceline, even though the hotel approved that rate on the site. They’ll waive it if you challenge the charge. The man at the desk said Wyndham would match the third-party rate if you booked directly with them. If you try that, please share how it goes for others.
