TownePlace Suites by Marriott Dallas Plano/Legacy

I haven’t been at peace for days. My heart is racing because I have heart disease, and I had to double up on my medication to calm down. I have anxiety and depression and was crying over how both Marriott and Booking.com treated me. I’m on disability, and saving that $104 for a one-day event was hard. I need to care for myself and my 90-year-old mother, who has dementia, and this stress has been overwhelming for us. I booked through Booking.com for February 7 and 8, and paid another $7 for insurance so my one-day event would be covered. I mistakenly entered February 1 and 2, and only noticed after paying in full. I called Booking.com right away to correct it, but they and Marriott just passed me back and forth, blaming each other while keeping my $104. I’ve been trying for about three days, and don’t understand why changing dates takes 48 hours. I wanted to attend an event at Masseys Shots on the 7th, after not leaving the house for nearly a year. I called Marriott and a front desk employee said the manager had better things to do and wouldn’t come to the phone. It’s awful and heartbreaking. Even with the insurance, they want to keep the money I saved. Marriott and Booking.com took it like candy from a baby. I’ll never use Booking.com or book with Marriott again. They’ve turned my vacation into a stressful, overwhelming mess.

You’ll be okay here if you need somewhere to stay in Plano, though there are better options. The room was clean enough, the staff friendly, and breakfast adequate. Coffee was decent and snack prices were reasonable, but nothing stood out. The rooms and hallways are dim. Even at midday with all the lights on and blackout curtains open, my room felt like 9 p.m. The bathroom fan roared and rattled, and something, maybe the refrigerator, knocked all night. My door didn’t fit the frame right anymore, so it took effort to get in and out.

The place needs a lot of attention to cleanliness and upkeep. Dust has built up on the elevator vents, some room doors are broken, and a strong cleaning-solution smell hangs around. Overall, it’s poorly maintained.

I was here for one night to attend a conference. The Plano location worked well, with several restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance or a short drive. My room had a kitchenette, which is useful if you want to cook something yourself. There was a small breakfast buffet included, and the staff were friendly and courteous. Thanks, Ram!
