La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Plantation at SW 6th St

We’d just come off a cruise and had a late flight, so I called at the last minute to book a room. They let us check in early, and I was glad I had WYNDHAM reward POINTS. The staff were accommodating, and the cleaner and front desk woman were so polite. The location was awesome. We walked across the street to the MALL, where my husband got JAMAICAN FOOD from a restaurant inside. They also had hot, free coffee with assorted creamers and sugars. We had a great stay. THANK YOU FOR OBLIGING US.

The rooms are a bit dated, but for the price this felt like a great deal. We slept well, and I liked being able to park where I could keep an eye on my car from inside. The lot was lit enough to walk around safely at night without the lights being too bright for sleeping. Breakfast was included and hit the spot, saving us a meal out. We found the atmosphere welcoming and the stay affordable. Coming from the middle of nowhere in northern New England, we weren’t sure what to expect on our first trip to FT. Lauderdale. I enjoyed the place more than I might have if it had been brand new. I’d recommend it if, like us, you want to be careful with your money, and I’d stay again if I needed to.

The location is the best thing about this hotel. The place itself felt shoddy and damp. Breakfast is supposed to run until 9, but the breakfast staff member was rude and didn’t put out more food, so don’t count on being able to eat there. The refill station was always out of water, and there was no ice in the machine, though maybe it was broken. The front desk offered to sell us water for $3. I wasn’t about to pay for water. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The rooms seemed like they hadn’t had a deep clean in years, and I couldn’t even bring myself to sit on the couch. I checked out within minutes of entering and went elsewhere. The night before, I’d read reports of dirt and cockroaches and asked the woman at the desk about them. She said she’d heard about cockroaches and that they’d send an exterminator if it happened. I checked in reluctantly, hoping it wouldn’t be as bad as I feared, but it was. Wendy understood when I said I was leaving and was very kind. Disgusting. Never again.
