We asked more than 24 hours ahead for a full room cleaning and were told it would happen. I kept my 4-year-old and 10-year-old out of the room all day so housekeeping could work, giving up their rest and nap time, but nobody showed up despite our follow-ups. That was frustrating and disrespectful of our family’s time. We also saw roaches in the room on three separate occasions. We told the front desk right away and showed photos of the roach and a visibly dirty sofa. We asked for pest treatment and a full cleaning, but got vague answers and were sent from one person to another. Nothing effective was done. Front desk service made things worse. A staff member named Marry was dismissive and didn’t offer meaningful help. We couldn’t change rooms, didn’t get cleaning service, and kept hearing it would be cleaned when it never was. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and clear communication was unacceptable. Cleanliness and basic service are the minimum, and this property failed at both. I’d advise families and anyone worried about hygiene to stay elsewhere. Management needs to address the sanitation and the front desk staff’s conduct.

Publix is right across the street, and there are good restaurants within walking distance or a short drive. There’s also a hospital with an emergency department across the street, plus nice places to walk a dog. Our room was clean and quiet, and it was dog friendly. Staff were helpful and friendly, and parking was safe, on site, and never an issue. This was our second stay, and we’ve recommended the place.

The location was the only thing I liked. At check-in, I heard complaints about the cleaning staff, and the elevator reeked of smoke. The pullout couch was in bad shape and the mattress looked questionable. There were no sheets for it. Ty?, the night staff member, wasn’t helpful and said it wasn’t a full-service hotel, they were fully booked, and she had no sheets to give us. Breakfast was basic continental fare. The pancake maker was broken and the eggs were really runny. Parking was so tight we nearly had to use the bank next door. The morning staff member apologized but said he couldn’t refund us because we booked through a third-party site. He offered to refund parking, though I didn’t think parking had been charged in the first place. I’d think twice before staying at a Sones again. Google’s 4.2 rating seems nowhere near right. This was easily one star, and I’d go lower if I could.

My family, my wife, the kids, and I enjoyed the suite, breakfast, and WiFi, and the hotel itself was excellent. But my son slept on the sofa couch, which had a strong urine smell. We only noticed it the next morning. I told the attendant when we checked out, and all we got was an apology.

We arrived at 9:30pm, found a dog diarrhea stain right in the middle of the floor, and left immediately. Mari (with an “I”) at the front desk said they couldn’t move us because all the rooms were stained and the floors wouldn’t be replaced until “in August.” She also said not to walk around the hotel without shoes, which says enough about the condition. The hotel refused a refund, but Orbitz came through and refunded us. 🤢
